Walking Towards Reconciliation Applications due by the Friday before March Break. Do NOT follow the deadlines listed in each award. This is our due date to the board.
Criteria: One graduate in each High School will be selected. A bursary of $1,000 will be issued.
Students selected for consideration of the award should:
have demonstrated empathy and understanding of the context, culture, perspectives, or history regarding Canada’s Indigenous peoples;
have been involved with an initiative, project or event that has tried to encourage reconciliation; and
have demonstrated through his/her daily actions and behaviours an appreciation of the value of Indigenous cultures to Canadian society.
applicants are requested to write a short essay (can be point form) outlining their activities and involvement in a reconciliation, project or event to the School-Based Awards Committee.
